Saturday saw Castletown foal graduate Self Praise (2c Twilight Son – Allegramente, by Dansili) gain a deserved maiden victory at Chester.
The Hugo Palmer-trained colt finished second on his previous four starts, including an eye-catching performance in the Woodcote Stakes at Epsom. Sent off favourite on his latest start over six furlongs, he raced wide turning for home and ran on well in the straight to score by a length and a quarter under Harry Davies.
Self Praise is owned by the Dandy Boys and was sold by Castletown Stud to Amy Lynam at the Goffs November Foal Sale.
