Castletown Stud graduate River Of Stars (2f Sea The Stars – Amazone, by Adlerflug) built on previous promise to run out a smart winner of the fillies’ novice stakes at Lingfield on Wednesday.
Placed on both her starts as a two-year-old, the Ralph Beckett-trained bay was narrowly denied on her seasonal return at Newbury and was sent off favourite to go one better at Lingfield. She raced prominently throughout the mile and a half contest under Rob Hornby and was shaken up to lead over two furlongs from home. Ridden a furlong later, she was pushed out to win by two lengths.
River Of Stars is owned by Woodford Thoroughbreds, who bought the daughter of Sea The Stars for 400,000gns from Castletown Stud at the Tattersalls December Foal Sale. Bred by Dr Klaus Schulte, she provides an important update for her full-sister, who will be offered by Castletown Stud at Tattersalls Book 2.
