Castletown Graduate Powers Home In Group 2 Contest

Castletown Stud graduate Vero Atleta (2c Gleneagles – Love Match, by Danehill Dancer) produced a late surge to complete a hat-trick of wins in the Group 2 Premio Gran Criterium.

The Grizzetti Galoppo-trained colt was narrowly denied in a Group 3 in June, before landing a conditions race last month and followed up in a Stakes contest. Partnered by regular rider Dario Vargiu at San Siro, he raced towards the back of the field for much of the way and was asked to quicken from three furlongs out. Producing a strong challenge between horses inside the final furlong, he led close home and ran on to score by a length.

Owned by Scuderia Incolinx and Diego Romeo, Vero Atleta was sold by Castletown Stud on behalf of breeder Corrin Stud at the Goffs Autumn Yearling Sale, where he was bought by Marco Bozzi Bloodstock.
