Well Regarded Castletown Graduate Makes Smart Debut

Ottoman Prince (2c Zoffany – Byzantium, by Dutch Art) shaped like a smart prospect when making a winning debut in Thursday’s seven furlong maiden at Chelmsford.

Held up at the back of the field by Luke Morris, the Sir Mark Prescott-trained newcomer was pushed along from two furlongs out and was switched right to make headway a furlong later. Running on strongly, he led close home and kept on to win by three parts of a length, with another length and a half back to the third.

The Castletown Stud graduate had evidently impressed at home, as he holds an entry in the Epsom Derby. Bred by Oxford Racing, the son of Zoffany was raised at Castletown Stud, before being sold to Barry Lynch at the Goffs Orby Sale.
