Suesa Back To Best in Goodwood Group 2

Castletown Stud graduate Suesa (3f Night Of Thunder – Sally Is The Boss, by Orpen) bounced back to form at Goodwood to run out an impressive winner of the Group 2 King George Qatar Stakes.

The Francois Rohaut-trained bay came into the race with three Stakes wins to her name and was ridden towards the back of the field by William Buick. Shaken up approaching the final furlong, she soon led and ran on well to score by three lengths.

“Suesa was incredible, just as she was twice at Chantilly,” Rohaut said after the race. “You don’t have the impression watching her that she is really accelerating.” On future plans, he commented, “In terms of France, she has the Prix de l’Abbaye and there is the Petit Couvert on Trials day. It’s too early to say in terms of the Nunthorpe, which comes up in three weeks. We’ll savour the victory and worry about that another day. But it’s a lovely worry to have.”

Suesa was raised at Castletown Stud since Johnny McKeever purchased the bay as a foal on behalf of Georgiana Cabrero. After extending her unbeaten record at Listed level as a three-year-old, the daughter of Night Of Thunder was purchased privately by George Strawbridge.
