Progressive Castletown Graduate Captures Group 3 Prize

Castletown graduate Lumiere Rock (2f Saxon Warrior – Last Gold, by Gold Away) continued on an upward curve to land the Group 3 Staffordstown Stud Stakes at the Curragh.

A promising fourth on debut, the Joseph O’Brien-trained filly improved to finish a close second at Galway and was narrowly denied once again last month. Reunited with Mikey Sheehy on Saturday, she made all of the running and was asked to quicken after passing the two furlong marker. Ridden a furlong from home, she kept on well to win by a length and a half.

“Lumiere Rock has done it well,” Sheehy said after the race. “In fairness to her, every time a horse joined me she kept finding more.”

Bred by The Last Partnership, Lumiere Rock was sold by Castletown Stud to owner Michael O’Flynn’s Rockfield Farm at Tattersalls Book 2. She provides an exciting update for her half-sister by Zoffany, who sells at the upcoming Tattersalls Book 3 Sale.
