Nerium Races Clear To Group 2 Glory

The Castletown Stud raised and grazed Nerium (4c Camelot – Nicolaia, by Alkalde) recorded his first pattern success in the Group 2 Carl Jaspers-Preis at Cologne.

Frau Ursula and Jurgen Imm’s homebred was beaten just a neck in last year’s Group 2 Premio Jockey Club and ran over the same trip of a mile and a half on Sunday. The Peter Schiergen-trained colt raced towards the back of the field under Bauyrzhan Murzabayev and made headway into third approaching the three furlong marker. Shaken up to dispute the lead a furlong later, he soon asserted and ran on well to win by two and a half lengths.

Castletown Stud has enjoyed great success raising future stars for the Imm family, with graduates including Group 1 winners Nightflower and Nymphea.
