Castletown Graduate Follows Up In Stakes Company

Comanche Country (2f Highland Reel – Honey Hunter, by Shamardal) made it two from two for new connections in the Listed Del Mar Juvenile Fillies Turf Stakes.

The Castletown Stud graduate joined the Phil D’Amato stable following a promising debut for John Kinsella and made a perfect start in a Del Mar maiden in July. Ridden by Umberto Rispoli once again on Sunday, the bay raced in midfield and was angled out turning for home. Quickening smartly, she was ridden out to score by a length and a quarter.

“It was easy,” Rispoli said after the race. “I think she’ll be even better as a three-year-old, once she really builds muscle and grows her mind. She’s lovely, good character, good mindset and everything is good for her.”

Comanche Country is owned by Little Red Feather Racing, Sterling Stables and Marsha Naify. The daughter of Highland Reel was bred by the Honey Hunter Syndicate and was sold by Castletown Stud at the Goffs Sportsman’s Sale.
